Why Do Local Businesses Need a Google Maps/Place Listing?

Now with the advancements in the world of technology, many search engine systems are providing latest news. Online business is one of the main themes that most of the search engines are focusing on. Google, with their significant news on local search is also providing many good things to people mainly in the arena of conducting local business.

Google Places is now the most common word for Google Local Business Centre. Place pages are another thing that the search engine has introduced over the years. With Google places, creating a great listing take just few minutes and do not cost much on the part of the person making it.

Also many more people are now interested in searching for business related works online. So, it is very important for most of the local business firms to make their website available on Google and Google Maps. All such kind of search pages contain relevant information for running a business successfully. Reviews, images, videos and other related information on business can also be had on Google Places.

Google Places in fact is just the beginning of making Google more local according to the service provider company. Listing of work on Google can help a local business firm in making it more popular.

Some of the features that are provided in Google are listed below:

Service area – This is very important and helps possible customers find you in Google in the area they are searching.  Remember that Mobile Devices are used more every day to find businesses and all those searches are based on location.

Business photo shoots – Google recently offered this service to encourage businesses to include photos with their listing.  They didn’t mention the fact that if you include ALL information Google asks for (including photos and videos) your listing is given more exposure.

Customized QR code – Now this is relatively new in Australia and you may not see it much just yet, these are special two dimensional barcodes that people with mobile devices can take a photo of and then receive information stored about your business in Google Places.  An example is shown on the right.

More favorite places – With this feature a person now can know things like who is looking out for them, where they are from and how they are finding them.

Now you may think that a local business may not need any kind of exposure on the internet. However, if you are an owner of a local business and you make your details available in Google Place listing, then it will be much easy for you to out-perform your business rivals who don;t have a listing in Google Places.
